BAKER - Police say five people were arrested and one person is on the run for a shooting outside a Baker home Saturday night. 

Erika Joseph, 26, was charged with first-degree murder and illegally supplying a felon with a firearm. Deja Joseph, 25, Destiny Simmons, 20, Tymberlyn King, 25, and Bryan Njoku, 26, were charged with principal to first-degree murder. Darren Hasbert, 22, was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. They were all booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn said Dominique Guidry turned himself into authorities Monday afternoon. He faces charges of first degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and illegal carrying and discharge of a weapon.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Baker Police detectives responded to the scene of a shooting in the 4400 block of Yvonne Drive Saturday night. A woman told detectives she heard loud knocking at her door then heard a single gunshot. She then found her boyfriend lying on the ground outside and bleeding from the neck.

The woman said she recognized two people fleeing the scene as her friends, Erika Joseph and Dominique Guidry.

Documents say the victim was transported to the hospital where he later died. The cause of death was determined to be a single gunshot from “point blank” range. The East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Curtis Labode. 

The woman told investigators that the couple had been having disputes with their friends over the past weeks. The woman said she had received several threats from Joseph earlier that day.

Detectives also learned that the victim was involved in a fight outside Joseph’s house earlier that day. Joseph and Guidry, followed by Simmons, King, Njoku and Deja Joseph, decided to drive to the victim’s home to continue to the fight.

At the scene, police say the victim approached Joseph’s vehicle to confront Guidry. Guidry then fired a shot from point blank range. The group then fled the scene “leaving the victim helpless with no regard to his life.”

Police say Guidry then left Joseph at a Denham Springs convenient store and said he was going to dispose of the handgun. Hasbert later picked up Joseph from the store and harbored her at his home. Several hours later they surrendered themselves to Baker Police.

Police say Joseph, Deja, Simmons, King gave full confessions to the shooting. Njoku refused to be interviewed and said his story would be no different from the rest.
