BATON ROUGE - Shocking, new information about the shooting death of a 20-year-old in an upscale area of Baton Rouge came to light Saturday with the arrest of one of two suspects in the case.

Taylor Besson, 20, of Thibodeaux, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail Saturday morning on principal to murder and robbery charges. Deputies wrote in arrest documents, Besson confessed to being with Jesse Trejos when he was shot and killed Wednesday night on Kindletree Drive, off Jefferson Highway in the Round Oak subdivision.

Besson identified his cousin as the shooter and told investigators there was an argument over a backpack Trejos had with him when he got into Besson's pickup truck. The backpack was not recovered, deputies reported.

Besson and his pickup were identified by a confidential informant, the WBRZ Investigative Unit learned Saturday. The informant and video of the truck in the neighborhood helped deputies find Besson who was interviewed at State Police headquarters in Baton Rouge.

Deputies also reported Saturday, a witness who tried to save Trejos' life after the shooting and told investigators on the scene Trejos murmured the name of the person who shot him was saved in his phone and that the shooting was the result of a fight over his backpack. Trejos died at a hospital.

Deputies used cell phone records to confirm Besson was at the scene, authorities wrote in jail records.

An East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson said the second named suspect, Justin Braud, is in custody.  He was being questioned and will be booked into jail on murder and armed robbery charges.
