BATON ROUGE – No one was injured after a house fire on Kaufman Street in Baton Rouge Friday.

Curt Monte with the Baton Rouge Fire Department reports that the fire happened around 3:36 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Kaufman Street. Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.

Monte said the home was vacant and was gutted due to flood damage in August's historic flooding. The fire was contained but parts of a nearby home were charred due to the intense heat.

Photos from the scene show firefighters spraying the charred remains of the home. Monte said the house is considered a total loss with an estimated $40,000 in damages.
