NEW ROADS - The water may be down, but the damage is already done.

New Roads resident Willie Mae Butler is throwing out her new wood floor that was just installed after last year's flood.

"The water just came in so fast, you didn't have time to pick up anything," Butler said.

Her subdivision in New Roads, Pecan Acres flooded this weekend. It's flooded more than 15 times since the 1970s.

She's ready for the government to buy her home and let her relocate. But all of the more than 50 homeowners in her two-block area must first agree to a federal buyout, meaning the government would pay off all of residents to take control of their property.

"I'm tired now, going through this so often. I'm tired, ready to throw in the towel."

It has also flooded many times in the subdivision right across the street from Pecan Acres, but the homeowners there are not being the offered the same buyout.

"This is where Flood City starts," resident Alvin Butler said.

Butler says his home and several other properties flooded this weekend. People lost their personal property and the community cemetery was also damaged.

"it's like were are going to save some people from the water, but not necessarily us. who are right next door neighbors to Pecan Acres.

Smith and his neighbors also plan to attend tonight's meeting,

and lobby to be included in the buy-out program.
