BATON ROUGE - Police asked for the public's help identifying a man who officers said stole cash and merchandise from a Tigerland market.

Detectives said the night of Jan. 20 the man went into the Akasha Market on Bob Petit posing as a customer, and took an item up to the register to pay for it.

While the employee had the register open, police said the robber snatched money out of the cash drawer and ran out of the store with the money and merchandise. Police said he then fled in a white sedan west on Bob Petit.

Investigators said the man was wearing a cap and sweatshirt which had the words "American Hustler" on the front.

Anyone with information about the man's identity should contact the BRPD Armed Robbery Division at (225) 389-3845.
