ZACHARY - Authorities say a man was shot Friday afternoon while he was giving someone a ride in his vehicle.

Deputies responded to the incident around 4:10 p.m. Friday on Old Scenic Highway near Groom Road. According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the victim was giving a ride to another person when that same person shot him in the leg.

The roadway is closed in the area while authorities investigate.
