BATON ROUGE - An investigation is underway after an overnight shooting left one person dead.

Police say 33-year-old Cleveland York was shot in the head while sitting behind the wheel of an SUV in the 5600 block of Ducros Dr. It happened in the Lake Beau Pre' neighborhood off River Rd. near Brightside Ln.

Investigators say York tried to drive away before plowing through a fenced-in backyard and crashing into a parked vehicle in the 3900 block of Northshore Ave.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

So far, police do not have a suspect or motive for the shooting.
