RAMAH- Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L are investigating a fatal car crash on Monday in Iberville Parish that took the life of 47-year-old Kenith Simpson of Jackson, MS.

The accident occurred on Monday after midnight when 19-year-old Daryann Villareal, also of Jackson, was traveling westbound on I-10 in a Toyota Camry.

Villareal fell asleep at the wheel and her car began to veer to the right. Her car struck a guardrail at the exit ramp to LA 975 causing it to spin.

Simpson was not buckled at the time of the crash and was ejected from the car. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office.

Villareal was wearing her seat belt and sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Villareal for analysis. Charges are pending.
