BATON ROUGE - Authorities arrested a man they say burglarized his father's home and held another person at knifepoint.

On Sept. 5, deputies from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Anderson Road in Zachary. The homeowner said his residence was burglarized while he was on vacation.

The man told authorities that his 12 gauge shotgun and 1996 Honda Accord were missing. Authorities said the suspect entered and exited the house through a bathroom window.

The homeowner suspected his son, 26-year-old Jackie James Davis III, as the person who broke into the home and stole the gun and car. While on vacation, the victim received calls that Davis was in the area of the residence with a shotgun.

According to authorities, the victim said Davis did not have permission to be at the residence or take his car.

On Sept. 15, EBRSO was contacted by the Limon Police Department in Limon, Colorado in reference to Davis. Davis was located in the stolen vehicle with his father's gun.

Davis was extradited back to Louisiana where he was charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, theft of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle. He was later released on bond.

In a separate incident on Oct. 7, officers from the Baker Police Department responded to the Baker Food Mart on Groom Road in reference to an armed robbery.

The victim stated he had been robbed at knifepoint by a black male suspect wearing a blue sweater and blue jeans. The suspect stole the victim's cell phone and fled on foot towards Plaza Drive.

While patrolling the area on Plaza Drive, a resident stopped officers to say a man, fitting the description of the suspect, ran into a residence in the 1200 block of Plaza Drive. The resident said the man ran into the apartment after seeing officers patrolling the area.

Through their investigation, the suspect was identified as Davis.

Davis was charged with armed robbery and criminal damage to property.
