BAKER - Police arrested a man after they received a tip informing them that a man was preparing and selling crystal meth out of a Baker hotel room with a 5-year-old child present.

33-year-old Issac Delarosario was booked on charges of creation/operation of a clandestine methamphetamine lab Tuesday.

Police said they were contacted by a reliable source that informed them a man was “cooking” meth at the Western Inn hotel located a 2090 Main St. in Baker. They were also told a child was present.

Officers responded to the scene to make sure the child wasn’t in danger and were greeted at the door by a woman. The woman invited police into the room where they observed a bag near the microwave containing a propane torch. Officers said they searched the room and came up with other supplies used in the manufacture of crystal meth including aquarium tubing, batteries and a type of fuel used in the cooking process.

While searching another bag found in the room, officers located coffee filters containing a white powdery substance they believed to be methamphetamine. They also found a digital scale in the same bag along with a glass smoking pipe.

Delarosario was booked into the EBR Parish Prison. Officers said the child was not present at the time of the man's arrest at the hotel. Police said the child was placed in the care of his mother, who was not charged with any crimes.
