LSU womens hoops falls in opening round of NCAA Tournament

WACO, TX - Raigyne Moncrief missed a desparation 3 point attempt at the buzzer, and the LSU women's basketball team bowed out of the 1st round of the NCAA tournament with a 55-52 loss to Cal on Saturday night. 

The Tigers trailed by 10 points in the first half, but tied the game at 41 in the second half on a jump shot from Chloe Jackson. The teams traded baskets down the stretch, and the Tigers trailed by just 1 point with less than 20 seconds remaining. Alexis Hyder was blocked on a shot attempt, though, and the Golden Bears took posession on a jump ball arrow, making 2 free throws to set the final margin. 

4 Tigers tied for the LSU scoring lead with 10 points each, while Asha Thomas led the Bears with 18 points - all from 6 made 3 point shots.
