LSU softball defeats Bama, advances in WCWs
BATON ROUGE – LSU softball will advance in the WCWS after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide 6-4 Saturday.
LSU’s Sandra Simmons led the way to for the Tigers. She marked two hits, 2 RBIs and a home run.
“You can’t expect anything less from an LSU-Alabama matchup. It’s a battle every time these two teams take the field,” head coach Beth Torina said. “Alabama is a class program, especially with their four seniors, and we have so much respect for them and how they play the game. As for our team, I thought we fought hard, played well and had a lot of kids step up.”
Alabama gave LSU a scare, scoring three runs in the sixth inning and cutting the Tiger’s lead to just two. The Tigers were able to hold on and take home the win.

The Tigers will be back on the diamond Sunday at 2:30 p.m. to face the loser of Georgia vs Auburn at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. That game will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
