LSU falls to Vanderbilt 9-7 in game 3
BATON ROUGE – No. 14 LSU dropped the final game of the SEC series to Vanderbilt 9-7 Saturday in Alex Box.
Vanderbilt rightfielder Jeren Kendall knocked a three-run homer in the eighth inning, erasing a 7-6 deficit and putting his team on top.
LSU falls to 21-10 on the season and 6-6 in the SEC. Vanderbilt improves to 25-7 and 7-5 in the SEC. LSU defeated Vanderbilt Thursday and Friday and has won its last two SEC series.
“I’m very proud of the way our team competed this weekend; they left everything they had on the field and earned a series win over an outstanding Vanderbilt program,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “Still, there’s a sense of disappointment because we feel like we let an opportunity slip away to complete the series with another win.”
