BATON ROUGE - A federal grand jury indicated a Livingston man on child pornography charges Thursday.

40-year-old Anthony Kurtz was found to be in possession of images of pre-pubescent minors and minors under the age of 12, according to the Department of Justice. Kurtz is accused of distributing and possessing the child pornography.

Kurtz had previously been convicted of sexual assault and indecent assault in Pennsylvania.

The man was taken into custody back in July when he was accused of 500 counts of possession of child porn and 50 counts of distribution of child porn. At the time, the Attorney General's Office said the man could face up to 20 years behind bars for each of the 500 counts he faces.

“Individuals who distribute child pornography further injure innocent victims each time these illegal images are distributed more widely online,” said Raymond R. Parmer Jr., Special Agent-in-Charge of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HIS) New Orleans. “Child sex abuse is one of the most serious crimes HSI investigates due to the lasting psychological and physical damage it can inflict on victims, and as such it will continue to be one of the agency’s highest priorities.”

Kurtz’s case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana, the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office’s Cyber Crime Unit.
