LAPLACE - Sheriff’s deputies in Plaquemines Parish announced the arrest of a man accused of distributing child pornography to an undercover detective.

27-year-old Matthew Guillory, of Laplace, was arrested at his home by members of the Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which includes members of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office. Guillory was taken into custody by the task force after they served a search warrant at his residence and obtained evidence connecting him to the crime.

An undercover operation connected to Guillory began on Oct. 9 when it was discovered that Guillory shared software files by way of a computer network with PPSO Detective Sergeant Aaron Verrette, a member of the ICAC Task Force working in an undercover capacity.

Upon examination of the files, it was determined that they contained multiple images of what appeared to be child pornography. Investigators said the shared files revealed that they contained nude photographs, in addition to sexual intercourse videos, of prepubescent girls between the ages of six and 13.

Sergeant Verrette discovered that the child pornography was transmitted over the internet from Guillory’s Laplace home. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Guillory’s residence.

Early Tuesday morning, members of the ICAC Task Force executed a search warrant at Guillory’s home. He was located inside and told investigators that for the past year he has searched for and downloaded child pornography from the web. He admitted to investigators that the youngest victim he had downloaded images or video of appeared to be an infant.

Investigators said they located multiple videos of child porn on Guillory’s computer hard drive and seized it as evidence. It will undergo a thorough forensic exam by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit. More charges may be filled pending the results of that examination.

Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Guillory for distribution of child pornography, and he was taken into custody.

Guillory was taken to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail where he was booked on four counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of video voyeurism, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, an outstanding Plaquemines Parish theft warrant and as a fugitive from Plaquemines Parish for one count of distribution of child pornography.

He remains in custody and will be transported to Plaquemines Parish at a later time. Guillory faces up to 20 years in prison for each count of pornography involving juveniles.
