USS Kidd to remember kamikaze attack 71 years later

BATON ROUGE - Members of the USS Kidd will be remembering those onboard of the ship during the kamikaze attack 71 years ago. 

The ceremony will take place at 1:55 p.m., the exact time when a sucide plane struck through the ship off the coast of Okinawa, Japan on April 11, 1945.

The plane first attacked the USS Black, but crashed at the hull of the USS KIDD. During the attack, 38 crew members were killed and 55 were injured.

The ceremony is free and open to the public. Tours of the ship will be available for regular admission prices.
