Police: Baton Rouge woman killed by impaired driver
BATON ROUGE – Police said a Baton Rouge woman was killed in a head on crash when an impaired driver veered into her lane Saturday morning.
Louisiana State Police said two cars collided happened on Nicholson Drive near Gardere Lane shortly before 6 a.m.
According to Police, 37-year-old Tomeka Lacey was killed when an SUV veered across the center lane, striking her car head on.
Investigators said Lacey was wearing a seatbelt, but still suffered fatal injuries. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, 32-year-old Andrew Davis and another passenger were also wearing a seatbelt and suffered moderate to severe injuries.
State Police believe Davis was impaired at the time of the crash. A toxicology sample was taken from both Davis and Lacey for analysis.

Louisiana State Police charged Davis with vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injuring, careless operation, no driver’s license and expired motor vehicle inspection. He was released from a local hospital and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
