NEW ORLEANS - According to the Humane Society of Louisiana (HSLA), a four-year-old Boston Terrier named 'Stella' has been reunited with her family after being stolen from the front seat of a vehicle during a Monday afternoon carjacking in Audubon Park, New Orleans.

The carjacking allegedly occurred when Stella's family was preparing to leave Audubon Park around 5:30 p.m., after they'd watched a soccer match in the Fly.

The victim says she put the car key into her ignition and briefly walked away from her vehicle to say goodbye to acquaintances, when a stranger crept into her car and began to drive away with it while Stella was inside.

According to HSLA, the morning after the carjacking, a couple of Good Samaritans named Donald and Demetrice Woods spotted a frightened dog -none other than Stella- dodging traffic on Wilson Street in New Orleans East.

They kindly stopped to comfort the pup and decided to take her home with them.

Once home, they noticed the dog's tag contained her family's name and number.

They were able to contact her family and reunite Stella with her very worried loved ones.

HSLA presented the Woods with a check for $750 for their good deed, and additional funds from private donors were also given to the Woods.

The carjacking remains under investigation by the New Orleans Police Department.
