BATON ROUGE - During player interviews Monday night, LSU's Leonard Fournette briefly mentioned his plan to sell his purple jersey worn during Saturday's game and donate the proceeds to charity.

"I'm happy," Fournette said of how plans have unfolded. Fournette announced he wanted to auction his jersey in a news conference after the Tigers' win against USC Saturday night.

The game was played in Baton Rouge since Columbia, South Carolina, flooded after days of rain. While the USC stadium was fit to host a game, the surrounding area was not. Officials made the decision to move the game at the last minute.

Fournette knows what it is like to deal with a disaster. During Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Fournette and his family had to seek refuge under an interstate bridge.

"We had to leave... carrying our grandparents through the water. We stayed on the bridge four days, five nights," he said earlier this summer. Fournette, who is from New Orleans, said he saw dead bodies floating through the water.

"People of Louisiana not only care but know first hand what you, South Carolina, are going through," Fournette said.

"I think about it every time I touch the football field. My struggle made me who I am today."

Experts think the bidding can start at $10,000. Click HERE to read a previous story about the auction plans.
