ALBANY – Sheriff's deputies in Livingston Parish said they charged a Tickfaw man with attempted murder after he was accused of shooting his son multiple times Thursday night.

Deputies were dispatched to an undeveloped subdivision off of Highway 442 in reference to reports of a shooting. At the scene, deputies learned that Anthony Vicknair, Sr. had fired five shots at his son, with three of those shots finding their mark.

According to Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard, Vicknair's son sustained injuries of the chest, head and hand during the shooting, but he was able to drive himself to a local hospital for treatment of wounds that were not life-threatening. Deputies reported the son is currently in stable condition.

“We have learned through our investigation that Vicknair Sr. and his son have had a violent past.” Ard said. “As for what sparked last night’s shooting – that is still unclear.”

Vicknair was taken into custody without incident and is currently in Livingston Parish Detention Center.
