BATON ROUGE- One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting that took place in the 1100 block of N. 47th Street on Wednesday night.

The shooting claimed the life of 19-year-old April Netter of Baton Rouge. According to BRPD, Netter was shot while sitting in a vehicle and died at the scene.

Netter's father, Roger Chenevert, said this is the second daughter he has lost to gun violence in four years. His 24-year-old daughter, Kayla Selders, was shot and killed in March 2012. Chenevert was still trying to gather information about Netter's death Wednesday night, but described the terror when he found out another daughter had been taken from him.

"I said to myself, not again," said Chenevert. "I can't take this anymore."

The other victim is believed to be a young man and was injured in the hand. While at the scene, News 2 witnessed first responders assisting him.

The investigation of the incident is ongoing and a motive is unknown at this time, according to BRPD. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 225-389-4869.
