BATON ROUGE – The curfew that was put in place in East Baton Rouge Parish Tuesday is still in effect, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says the curfew will still be in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.

Multiple arrests were made Monday and authorities were fielding calls Tuesday about businesses being looted.

At least 40,000 homes have been damaged and 13 people killed in some of the worst flooding in Louisiana history.

In a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, State Police Colonel Mike Edmonson said that one of the reasons Gov. Edwards signed the executive order to establish the curfew for East Baton Rouge residents is to combat looting.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard extended the curfew in that parish until further notice Wednesday. The curfew is also from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office lifted a curfew in that parish Wednesday morning. Authorities said the curfew was put in place as a precaution and may be re-instituted if needed.
