Donors raise $952,522 in St. Jude Dream Home giveaway
BATON ROUGE - Donors raised nearly $1 million dollars for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Sunday night for the Dream Home giveaway. Some donors even walked away with fabulous prizes.
According to initial reports, tickets for Sunday night's St. Jude Dream Home giveaway sold out in a record 35 to 40 minutes. In total $952,522 was raised for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The winner of the Grand Prize, the St. Jude Dream Home house is Geary Perkins of Port Allen. The home built by Alvarez construction has an estimated value of $525,000.
Perkins spoke to WBRZ News 2 after it was announced that he won.
Perkins said he purchased two tickets early in the raffle. He said he will check out his new home around 8 a.m. Monday morning.
Ashley Alongio of Baton Rouge won the Tickets on Sale Prize, groceries for a year, valued at $2,500 courtesy of the Dream Day Foundation.
Matthew Bedall Sr. of Denham Springs won the Early Bird Prize, a family vacation of their choice, valued at up to $10,000.
Loretta Oubre of Vacherie won the Bonus Prize, a vehicle of her choice valued up to $50,000 at any All Star Automotive location.
Malcolm Johnson of New Orleans won the Open House Prize, a $10,000 VISA gift card courtesy of The UPS Store.
Glen and Sylvia Arton of Mount Airy won a $1,000 VISA gift card courtesy of All My Sons Moving and Storage.
Erica Carey of St. James won the Artesso Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with SmartTouch technology courtesy of Brizo.
Donna Spahn of New Orleans won a private wine pairing dinner for 10 guests at 18 STEAK, courtesy of L'Auberge Casino in Baton Rouge.
Victor Roppolo of Baton Rouge won the one year membership fitness package to Spectrum Fitness Southdown.
Linda Shiflett of Baton Rouge won the ultimate tailgate package, courtesy of Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers.
