WHITE CASTLE – State Police say a Donaldsonville woman is dead after her car went airborne and landed on its roof off LA 1 Saturday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police Latisha Johnson, 39, was driving northbound on LA 1 around 7:20 a.m. when she traveled off the right side of the road. Police say Johnson’s Infiniti G35 entered a ditch, struck a mound of topsoil and went airborne.

Police say the vehicle crossed a canal and landed on its roof against a concrete block. Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered critical injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Investigators took toxicology samples but do not suspect impairment at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
