DONALDSONVILLE – Authorities in Ascension Parish accused a Donaldsonville man of beating a woman and fleeing from deputies last week.

Deputies charged 26-year-old Frank Brooks Tuesday with possession of marijuana, domestic abuse aggravated assault, flight from an officer and disturbing the peace.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a home in Donaldsonville on Dec. 2 after a woman said Brooks beat her the night before. Investigators said the victim had a broken bone in her face and several bruises to the neck and face.

A short while after talking to the victim deputies said they found Brooks driving his vehicle. Deputies said they tried to pull Brooks over but he refused stop, leading authorities on a short vehicle pursuit in Assumption Parish.

Assumption Parish deputies stopped the vehicle but could not find Brooks, even after searching several other locations. Investigators in Ascension Parish found him Tuesday, and arrested him.

Brooks was charged and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. No bond has been set.
