DENHAM SPRINGS – The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office has identified one of the victims of last week’s historic flooding.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, the body of 53-year-old William Thomas, of South Point Drive in Denham Springs, was found last Wednesday in a wooded area. The body had no signs of trauma, according to the coroner.

The Coroner’s office believes Thomas’ death was related to last week’s flooding. Thomas was listed as missing after floodwaters ravaged most of Livingston Parish.

Investigators say Thomas “never returned from a morning walk.” Officials say the area where the body was where “water had risen five feet at one time.”

The flooding claimed the lives of at least 13 people.
