BATON ROUGE - I-10 West from Essen Lane to the Mississippi River Bridge saw heavier than normal congestion for around an hour Wednesday morning after debris removal operations closed LA 1 South in Port Allen.

All lanes of LA 1 were reopened at around 10 a.m. Wednesday when crews were able to clear the roadway. Congestion built throughout the morning as alternating lane closures went into effect during the work.

By 11 a.m., LA DOTD reported that congestion levels on that strip of interstate had returned to normal, but traffic could be a factor throughout coming days as severe weather is likely headed to our area.
