BATON ROUGE - LSU Athletics reports that junior quarterback Brandon Harris caught fire during LSU’s final scrimmage of preseason practice to complete 12 of 15 passes for 133 yards along with a pair of touchdowns.

The Tigers wrapped up fall camp with a 100-play workout in Tiger Stadium on Tuesday. It’s the last time the Tigers will engage in live tackling ahead of their Sept. 3 opener against the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field.

“We really had a long and productive go today,” Miles said following the workout. “We took the first team and significant seconds and put them together and played them against what would be really good thirds. It was the best scout team work that we’ve had and overall, it was the best live work that we’ve had. We looked at Wisconsin and we looked at some LSU. It was a good day for us.”

According to Coach Miles, the Tigers went 220 yards in the air and 288 on the ground during the scrimmage. Leonard Fournette was not in the mix as he is still recovering from a slight ankle strain that he experienced earlier in the camp. The All-America running back is expected to return to the practice lineup on Thursday, said Miles.

Miles pointed to defensive standouts in the form of defensive back Donte Jackson who returned a pick for a TD.  Safety Jamal Adams also came up with an interception and was close to getting a second one.

“It was difficult to run on them,” Miles said of the defense. “They did a good job defending the pass as well. They got some hands on some balls and made it difficult to throw against.”

The footage of the scrimmage wil be a powerful tool as Tiger strategists can now pour over it ahead of the rapidly closing in season opener. Here's some other stats compiled during the practice by the Tiger Droppings staff:

Tuesday scrimmage stats and tidbits:
-Scrimmage was 100+ plays.
-Passed for 220 yards.
-Rushed for 288 yards.
-Brandon Harris went 10-15, for 133 yards, and 2 TD's.
-Maea Teuhema is in rotation with Toby Weathersby and KJ Malone at tackle.
-Jamal Adams had an interception, dropped another one.
-Donte Jackson had an interception that he returned for a TD.
-Colby Delahoussaye and Connor Culp both made field goals.
-No injuries

“As coaches, we can take this film and teach from it as we prepare for game week,” Miles said. “We have been going LSU vs. LSU all of camp. The idea that we now turn our focus on some different alignments and different stunts, it was good to be able to use this scrimmage to get some Wisconsin looks.”

The team will have the day off on Wednesday with game-week routine picking back up on Thursday.

“We look forward to getting fresh legs,” Miles said. “We had an eventful scrimmage today. We came out healthy and without injury, which was wonderful. Now we can take a day off and get ready to start our game-week preparation for Wisconsin.”
