BATON ROUGE – The City-Parish will kick off a new initiative that will bring charging stations to downtown Baton Rouge to accommodate and encourage the use of electrical cars.

A press conference will be held on Monday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at the North Boulevard Town Square to announce the initiative.

According to the Business Report, the plan is to install 10 charging stations downtown in parking garages as well along some streets. Chargers will be available at designated spots and cars that are not electric will risk receiving a fine if found in the spots.

Along with Mayor Kip Holden, representatives from Entergy, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Louisiana Clean Fuels, the Downtown Development District and Capital Area Transit will be at the press conference.
