Central fire looking for information after corrosive material is dumped illegally
CENTRAL - The Central Fire Department is seeking information after an unknown, corrosive substance was dumped Tuesday evening.
BR Hazmat was also called to the scene near the intersection of Wax Road at Banway Drive after someone illegally dumped two 55-gallon-drums which were leaking a fluid after they were overturned.
The drums were not identified by any labels, however after the substance was tested, it was determined to be a mild corrosive. A cleanup crew removed the drums.
The Department of Environmental Quality, State Police Hazmat and Central Police Department assisted in the call.
The Central Fire Department is asking that anyone with information about the crime call (225) 261-2000.
