BATON ROUGE - Police said Tuesday people in Baton Rouge have been receiving scam phone calls from someone claiming to be with the Baton Rouge Police Union.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said the union does not do any phone solicitations specifically so they don't get confused with scam calls.

McKneely said this time of year scam attempts are in high gear because of the holidays. He said people should stay vigilant about any calls or requests for money or personal information, and to call police for assistance when needed.

People with any questions about donations for the BRPD Police Union should call Sgt. Chris Stewart at 225-938-1105.
