BATON ROUGE - United Blood Services has announced they’ll extend their office hours this week in the wake of a shooting ambush that left three Baton Rouge law enforcement officers dead and another three injured. Their donation hours will be as follows:

Monday - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday - 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday - 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

LifeShare Blood Centers, located at 3849 North Blvd., has announced they’ll also adjust their hours to Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. with opening scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday.

They’ll hold a blood drive at the Walmart on Walker South Road in Walker from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Our Lady of the Lake Blood Donor Center is open 8:30 am to 6 pm Monday - Thursday, 8 am to 4:30 pm Friday and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

Our Lady of the Lake officials said their blood supply remained stable during the time while the officers were being treated at the medical center, but blood donations are always needed. The emergency room at OLOL has remained open throughout the day, but law enforcement has remained at the site to guard it. A tense scene occurred around the time Gov. John Bel Edwards was visiting the hospital when a firearm was discovered in the vehicle of a man arriving at the medical center.

St. George’s Fire Department is holding a blood drive at its headquarters on Airline Highway this week for those who wish to donate as well.

The blood drive will be held on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
