BRENHAM, Texas - In honor of National Ice Cream Month (which is apparently a thing now), Blue Bell has unveiled a new ice cream flavor: Cookie Two Step.

The creamery says the new flavor is a “beautiful mixture of chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate sandwich cookies and vanilla ice cream.” In other words, it’s a cookie dough/cookies ’n cream mashup.

"What better way to celebrate National Ice Cream Month than with the release of a brand new ice cream flavor," said Ricky Dickson, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell in a press release. "Cookie Two Step combines ingredients from two of our top-selling flavors, making it a perfect combination that you have to try.”

There is still no word yet on when Blue Bell’s Creole Cream Cheese is returning to store freezers, which is incredibly depressing.

Blue Bell is battling back to frozen treat dominance after the company's product was off store shelves for about four months due to a listeria outbreak last year.

Blue Bell is holding a tasting party here at News 2 this afternoon at 3 p.m. I tried to get you invited but they said I couldn't bring guests, so I'll update this story later with my review. I anticipate it will taste like cookies 'n cream ice cream mixed with cookie dough ice cream, but I've been wrong before.

UPDATE: BONUS REVIEW

Ice cream party didn't have balloons or anything, but nevertheless, I got to sample Cookie Two Step. The container it comes in (which also doubles as a terrific hat after you clean it out) touts the touch of brown sugar added to the vanilla base, which as it turns out is actually a notable and welcome addition to the mix. It adds a delightful complexity to what would otherwise be a middle of the road cookies 'n cream flavored quasi-remix. The container also says they "mix in a little love," which I could not taste and am not even sure is FDA-approved. Love aside, Cookie Two Step is way better than I expected. If you ever can't choose between cookies 'n cream and cookie dough ice cream Blue Bell now has that on lock because America. Also, I got the chance to talk to Blue Bell reps, but they totally shut me down when I started asking Creole Cream Cheese related questions. The Cookie Two Step verdict?
