BATON ROUGE – Members of an LSU fraternity returned stolen Halloween decorations to homes around campus after frustrated homeowners found decorations gone from their yards this week.

LSU said it is investigating.

It appears the decorations were stolen late Tuesday night. Homeowners found the decorations missing Wednesday morning.

When someone returned a 12-foot inflatable clown from a home in the Riverbend neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, the decoration thieves said they had been returning stolen items since 6 o’clock Wednesday morning.

Thursday LSU told WBRZ it had been made aware of the decorations being taken and set up at a fraternity house on campus.

In a video posted on Instagram, one homeowner said he took it upon himself to investigate where the decorations went when he found his missing early Wednesday.

“Let’s see which frat house it was,” Matt Johnson said on the video. Johnson said when he saw his decorations missing he immediately went to look for the decorations at a fraternity house – figuring it was a late-night prank by members of one of them.

“The first place I look... I found my clown stolen,” Johnson said.

A voice in the background told Johnson someone was going to be returning the clown.

??CLOWN FOUND & RECOVERED?? What makes me sick is literally the first place I drove to was the fraternity houses on LSU’s campus. Why you ask, well this happens every year to people’s holiday decorations and everyone knows it is pretty much always done by fraternities. (Sorry not sorry). What really blows my mind is these houses are stacked deep with at least 50 people in their house and have all the money in the world but can’t summon any brain power to build something like this or ask the owner to maybe build something like this for their Halloween parties, etc... Grow up, I am a chill person who would have probably hooked y’all up if you left me a note or knocked on my door one day. Now you’ve made me out to be the asshole because full charges have been pressed. Hopefully this teaches some of y’all to think before you act just because your fraternity associates think it’s legit too. (Also, I’m sorry for all of the fraternity people that are actually decent people. So many people making the rest look bad since the beginning of time.) Maybe reevaluate some of your KAPPA SIGMA acquaintances)

“We’ll get it back to you,” a voice said.

Johnson’s video identified the fraternity as Kappa Sigma. LSU confirmed it was investigating the incident and identified the fraternity.

It appears the fraternity members were specifically after clowns – Johnson’s clown was not the same one stolen from the homeowners in Riverbend.
