Baker named #1 safest city in La.

BATON ROUGE- Baker has been named the safest city in the state by BackgroundChecks.org.

Baker tops a list of ten cities the web site ranked.

The website is a public safety focused organization committed to increasing public safety, community involvement, transparent government, and education.  

The site’s list was compiled based on FBI violent crime states and research data done by the site.

According to the site, Baker, home to 13,800 residents, has a violent crime rate of 185.4 and a 3.2 percent chance of residents being affected by property crime.

Kenner came in second, Mandeville in third, and Jennings in fourth.

Gonzales was named number 5 with a violent crime rate of 435.7 and a 7.2 percent chance of residents affected by property crime.

Morgan City came in at number 6, Slidell at number 7 and Thibodaux at number 8.

Zachary was named number 9 with a 582.9 violent crime rate and 1.8 percent chance of property crime,

Bossier City closed out the list with a 596.4 violent crime rate and a 3.8 percent chance of property crime.
