BAKER - Baker City Court will run an amnesty program for individuals with outstanding bench warrants for the last half of this month.

Court officials say anyone with an outstanding bench warrant issued before July 15, 2016 will be eligible to have the bench warrant recalled without first paying the normal bench warrant recall fee. The recall is usually $100, but during the amnesty program, that fee will be waived until it can be paid at a later date with the rest of the fines due.

The defendant will then be given a new court date and additional time to pay any outstanding fees. While the court notes that the amnesty program does not reduce outstanding fees, the amnesty will allow for the defendant to pay the fees within 30 days via a payment plan without an outstanding bench warrant attached to their names.

The amnesty program will run from July 15 through July 31. The court says they’re extending office hours to 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the following days:

  • Monday, July 18
  • Wednesday, July 20
  • Thursday, July 28

The additional hours will allow defendants with bench warrants to have bench warrants recalled outside of normal work hours.

Questions regarding the amnesty program should be forwarded to Baker City Court at 225-778-1866 or Baker Police at 225-775-6000.
