Area man gets high, falls asleep in drive-through line
THIBODAUX - Officers in Thibodaux have arrested a man they say fell asleep in a drive-through early Monday morning.
Authorities received a call about a car blocking a restaurant drive-through around 1:15 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered John Sewell, 37, asleep at the wheel.
One of the officers carefully reached inside of the car turned it off and removed the ignition key.
When officers woke Sewell, he tried to put the vehicle in drive. He kept trying to shift gears after being ordered out of the vehicle.
After some time, he got out. During a search, officers found a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue in Sewell's possession. He admitted to smoking earlier and told authorities he was asleep at the wheel because he was drunk and high.
