BATON ROUGE - Louisiana State Police said a girl taken from her Texas home by a Louisiana man was found safe in Sabine Parish Monday.

LSP canceled the alert issued for 6-year-old Alexis "Lexi" Johnson, who was last seen Sunday in Houston in a pickup with 40-year-old Harvey Eugene York Jr. of Zwolle, La.

LSP said York's pickup was later found in Sabine Parish and authorities eventually located him and Johnson. York was arrested and Johnson recovered to be taken back to her mother.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said York took off with Johnson after he got into an argument with the girl's mother, who had a relationship with him. Johson's mother told York to leave, and he took off in his pickup with Alexis inside.
