3 La. statewide elected officials attending GOP convention
BATON ROUGE - Three of Louisiana's Republican statewide elected officials will travel to Cleveland next week for the Republican National Convention.
Secretary of State Tom Schedler, Attorney General Jeff Landry and Treasurer John Kennedy are planning to attend the party's summer convention and events organized for the Louisiana delegation.
None is among the state's official delegates to the convention, which will select the party's nominee for president.
Schedler is expected to be there most of the week, while Kennedy's office says the treasurer will travel to Cleveland Monday and return home Wednesday. Landry's office wouldn't provide details of his schedule, except to confirm he'll attend the convention.
Spokeswomen for Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon and Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain say those GOP officials aren't planning to travel to the convention.
