ATLANTA - Devon Gales' mother shared amazing news about his road to recovery Tuesday.

She posted a video on Facebook showing Devon moving his legs on his own, something the family thought was impossible after he was injured in the Southern Jags' season opening football game against the University of Georgia last fall.

The movement was so surprising, Gales' mom, Tish, grabbed her phone and started recording. He was just as shocked.

"It was a surprise for me," he told News 2's Brett Buffington in an exclusive interview. "I didn't know what to think. I was like, my legs move."

Gales is back at the Shepard Center in Atlanta where he spent several months rehabbing before he was released in February. Just One Station was there to capture that emotional moment for Gales and his family. Devon says he's regaining more feeling in his arms and fingers.

"Only God did this one," he says. "When you believe in him, he'll show you so many things."

He's scheduled to undergo two more weeks of therapy before coming home to Louisiana. Before he returned to Baton Rouge in February, UGA and the Triumph over Tragedy Foundation announced it was going to build a new home in Baton Rouge that was better fit for Gales' needs.

You can help the Gales family, as well, by making a donation here. He has a message for everyone who has supported him so far.

"I just want to thank them, and let them know that I appreciate them," he says.
