BATON ROUGE - It’s been a busy week for Devon Gales and his family since he returned to Baton Rouge from Atlanta where he’s been since September recovering from a spinal injury he suffered during a football game last season. More was in store today though as his parents were at the site where their dream home is to be built.

It’ll all possible thanks to the Triumph Over Tragedy Foundation that has committed to building the Gales family a house to ease Devon’s continued efforts at recovery. The foundation engages in acts of charity for individuals that have been impacted by illness or injury to help them adapt to life.

The house will be built on land purchased by Donny and Tish Gales, and it will be specially designed to accommodate Devon as he works to regain mobility. Eventually, they’ll be able to move into what is planned to be a five bedroom, three and half bath home.

“It’s a blessing just to know that they’re doing something not just for me but my family,” said a grateful Devon.

So far, Triumph Over Tragedy has raised about $45,000 to go toward construction costs. The goal is set at half a million. Leaders of the foundation say money is pouring in, so it doesn’t seem that goal is out of reach by any stretch of the imagination.

If you would like to donate to the cause, you can visit Triumph Over Tragedy’s website where the foundation is selling custom hoodies and t-shirts to go toward the fund.
