Nine-year-old hurt in double shooting on 71st Avenue
BATON ROUGE - Police say a family dispute led to a double shooting on Scenic Highway Thursday evening.
Police say the shooting occurred on 71st Avenue around 6:30 Thursday afternoon. Police say the two victims then arrived at the nearby police station on Scenic Highway for assistance.
Officers say a 9-year-old female was shot in the head, and a second adult female was shot in the neck and shoulder area. The two are reportedly in stable condition.
Several other individuals from the residence on 71st Avenue and inside the vehicle were not injured and were transported to the police Violent Crimes Unit.
Police say individuals from the hospital informed them the 9-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
