BATON ROUGE -  Eye witnesses say police with rifles escorted confused patients from the Our Lady of the Lake Emergency Room Saturday night fearing an active shooter situation. Emergency room staff reported possible shots fired around 7:30 p.m. after a patient slammed a door.

Baton Rouge police were on the scene in six minutes. Police dertemined it was a false alarm and cleared the area by 7:42pm. A deployed SWAT team was recalled before making it to the hospital.

"Any active shooter report is taken serious, especially at a large venue like a hospital or school," said BRPD spokesperson Don Coppola.
