Sheriff: Sex offender killed by relative
ST. FRANCISVILLE - The sheriff of West Feliciana Parish said a relative of a registered sex offender shot and killed the man this week.
Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said 30-year-old Anthony Nixon is accused of second-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Brandon Nixon.
Daniel said Anthony Nixon shot Brandon Nixon around 11:22 a.m. Monday while on Coates Road in the community of Independence. The sheriff did not provide a motive for the shooting.
Brandon Nixon is listed on the WFPSO sex offender registry as a Tier 1 offender for a 2008 conviction of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. The sheriff's office said he also failed to register or notify as a sex offender in 2013.
Deputies said Anthony Nixon was booked into the West Feliciana Parish Detention Center. Bond has not been set at this time.
