RV fire slows traffic on I-10 Tuesday
GONZALES - A large camper fire closed lanes of I-10 in Ascension Parish after lunch Tuesday.
Twitter user @jonsmith4040 shared a picture of an older-model RV engulfed in flames. The fire seemed to have burned up the entire front part of the camper but smoke was pouring from either end. In a tweet sent to WBRZ, the individual reported the fire was on the side of I-10 East near the Burnside exit.
State traffic cameras showed eastbound traffic was stopped at the exit but the fire was out of view of the camera. A traffic camera facing toward the fire but at the Tanger exit showed smoke in the distance. WBRZ's advanced traffic tracking software showed traffic was slowing significantly on both sides of I-10 in the area where the fire was reported.
