Rhino wanders out of enclosure at Baton Rouge Zoo
BATON ROUGE – A male black rhino is back in his enclosure after briefly wandering out of his area Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Zoo said a caretaker going through the regular morning routine left a gate open Tuesday morning at the rhino enclosure. The rhino wandered out into a buffer zone for a couple of minutes before returning to his enclosure on his own.
The zoo says the animal was never in contact with any zoo visitors. Patrons in the area were put into safe places according to the standard zoo animal escape plan.
