BATON ROUGE - Concerned residents in East Baton Rouge Parish plan to voice their opposition to a proposed subdivision at a planning commission meeting Monday.

It would be located at the intersection of Tiger Bend and Babin roads. The Timber Ridge subdivision would bring in 281 homes on 60 acres of land. The development also calls for 221 acres of land dedicated as a preservation that will remain untouched.

However, people like Kyler Moppert feel the development will worsen flooding issues in the surrounding neighborhoods.

"If they extend this ridgeline out, which we are on the high part of the ridge, if we extend that south by a couple hundred yards that water has to go somewhere next time it rains, and it's going to go in those people's homes that have never flooded before," he said.

The subdivision could break ground this summer if approved by the East Baton Rouge Planning Commission. An impact study states that the development will have no net impacts on storm water quality or drainage for the surrounding area.
