PRIDE - East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man accused of severely injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash on George Oneal Road Saturday.

25-year-old Michael Threeton was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on a charge of hit-and-run following his arrest on Sunday.

Deputies said they were contacted by Threeton’s girlfriend who said she was in the passenger seat of her vehicle, driven by her boyfriend, when he struck a pedestrian in the roadway as they traveled eastbound on George Oneal. She said she dialed 911 while Threeton pulled the car over and got out to help the female victim, but he quickly got back in the car and fled the scene.

A witness at the scene confirmed that they saw a man matching Threeton’s description nearby at the time of the crash.

The victim was taken from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake with a fractured skull, fractured pelvis and ruptured bladder along with other internal injuries, according to EBRSO.

Deputies went to Threeton’s residence in Pride on Sunday to take him into custody. He confirmed that he had gotten out of his girlfriend’s vehicle to help the victim, but he said he panicked when he saw her condition and decided to run, according to EBRSO.
