BATON ROUGE - Plans to bring emergency rooms to  North Baton Rouge will soon be presented to investors next week.

The #NBRNOW Blue Commission, formed by Councilwoman Chauna Banks, and their partners, Champion Medical Center and Cambridge Holdings, Inc., have been working to present plans on the project.

According to Banks, Howell Place is the area they are looking to for the development. Howell Place is a 200-acre piece of land near the Metropolitan Airport that is a multi-use commercial land industrial park.

“Howell Place is an ideal location, easily accessible and already surrounded by other health care providers, and it has the capacity to supplement with varied targeted facilities that every citizen deserves equal access to. We aim to remedy poor entrance to care in one-half of the city-parish," Banks said.

A building tour and reception is planned to lay out a strategy to bring a new model of community-based care to provide a full range of health care services to North BR.

Plans for build-out, sustainability and funding sources will be presented to "invited stakeholders" on Thursday, Apr. 28 at the Offices of Champion Medical Center.
