ADDIS - State Police have taken control of a death investigation after a woman was shot and killed Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the incident on East Nic Drive between La 1 and the Mississippi River around 4 p.m.  A 23-year-old woman died after being shot. 

Sources told WBRZ reporter Brett Buffington on the scene that an off-duty, reserve Addis Police officer was involved but was not the victim.

City authorities refused to answer questions about the situation all afternoon.
